As good health is a requisite part of human life, many individuals assume that health care services should not be managed by non-governmental organizations. Since the prime aim of private organizations is to make a profit, they anticipate that medical care would not only be expensive, but chances of malpractice are also there. While this is true to a large extent, this essay is not of the view that the disadvantages of private health care offset its positive aspects.
To set in, what prompts people to think against private medical agencies is the fact that they are making a lot of profit. Health care, for example, is necessarily a humanitarian service and, therefore, it should be inexpensive and available to one and all. Unfortunately. this is not the case. Some medicines and private hospitals are so expensive that only the rich can afford them. These things give rise to the view that the Government should run health care services, in which case even the poor can avail them.
However, the picture is not as rosy as all that. For instance, the hospitals run by the Government lack many facilities. It has also been found that most organizations under the Government are inefficient. As such, if this vital service is brought under the complete care of the Government, it would be disastrous. Private medical care may be expensive, but they ensure prompt and efficient service.
To sum up, the medical industry and other health care services being brought entirely under the public domain may outwardly seem to be a good idea. But experience shows that it would be foolhardy. Although private medical services are costly, they are more reliable and capable of life-saving.
